Happy New Year to all the Guild members! We're going to start 2003 off with a contest for our January project. All Guild members will be able to vote on the submissions, and your votes will determine the top three winners. I'm hoping lots of you will enter...just for the fun and experience of it! There are not many guidelines for this month's project. The only requirement is that you must use the numbers "2003" in your design in some way. You may decide the size of paper you wish to work on (though you want to be sure it will fit in your scanner, if you are scanning the finished product). Please scan your entries at about a 72dpi resolution, and if taking a picture with a digital camera instead, please try to use a comparable resolution. Only one entry can be submitted by each person, and your entry must be emailed directly to me at itissusan@earthlink.net by midnight of the 25th. Please don't send your entry to the message site, because we don't want them seen until I post them all at the same time, for the voting. Some of the ideas that I've come up with for using a pressed flower design with "2003" featured on it include a notebook or journal cover, a card for a friend, a book mark, a wall plaque or matted design to hang on or beside your calendar or bulletin board. I'm sure you'll come up with other possibilities! You may decide to make the numerals themselves out of pressed material, or print out large numerals to decorate. (You can do that in MS Word by clicking your mouse in the font size box, deleting the size number that is there, and typing in as large a size as you wish to print out. Once you've typed in the size you want, you hit "enter", and then click your mouse down on the page where you type your numerals. If you have any questions, contact me!) I'm attaching two samples I made for this project...one is for a notebook cover, and the other is hanging near my bulletin board! They will give you an idea of a couple of ways to position the numbers. I look forward to seeing how creative you all will be with this project! After the 25th, I will announce the opening of the voting, and give instructions as to how we'll do that.
