I live in
the northeast corner of Georgia in a town called Clarkesville. I have lived
here for 3 ½ years. It is a beautiful mountainous area and I love living
here. I have two married sons; one lives close to us and the other one lives
in Florida, and also four wonderful grandsons.
I have a passion for flowers and for the past fifteen years have been doing all sorts of growing, drying, and arranging flowers. I started creating pressed flower art about six years ago. As I started pressing flowers, I made bookmarks for family and friends as gifts. I loved pressing the flowers and was amazed at the way they came out when pressed. During the past two years I have started a part-time business out of my home called “At Home Specialties by Millard.” I have been pressing flowers for weddings, funerals, and other special occasions. I also teach classes at the local “Artful Barn” in Clarkesville, GA. Since I have joined the Guild I have learned so much about flower pressing and my creativity has definitely been challenged. In the past few years I have gone from doing a very basic bookmark design to creating birds, bees, clowns, roosters, and angels with pressed flowers. Pressed flower art is fun, challenging, and a stress reliever. I have recently been appointed to the position of Internal Affairs by the World Wide Pressed Flower Guild. I am proud to be a part of this group of wonderful ladies. It is my pleasure to serve the Guild and I will do my best. The World Wide Pressed Flower Guild has been a wonderful source of learning, sharing, and encouragement. This is a very dedicated, hard-working group of people and I look forward to helping out as a member of the Executive Committee. Visit my website at www.flowerartbydarlene.com
